lucking out

Hello all
Well I have arrived in China and its been all go from the moment the plane took off in A'dam. Left Holland on tuesday, went via London Gatwick and Heatrow (because OasisHongKong decided to go bankrupt 6 days before my departure so now had to fly with BA) Took the opportunity to catch up with Jez! On to HongKong. One night in a tiny all chinees hotel, (first china moment.. many jet to come!) Got some stuff organized at head office and then on the plane to Chengdu. Arrived late thursday night. Got a nice en-suite room looking out onto one of the bear enclosures. Friday got myself orrientated, went out for dinner and drinks with some of the girls.. never expected to see so many white people here. Saturday I lucked out even more cause there was a work outing!! To a temple, via the chinese wall and an ancient city. All very interesting had heaps of fun and sunshine and only six white ladies!! Keep in mind that white people are very much an attraction in China.
The only authentic thing was the temple.. the rest was fake! Yes also the wall. Had dinner at a huge restaurant with a buffee and the rest brought to your table on skewers. Only picked what I liked but was a bit adventurous and tried a cocooned bug of some sort... payed the price for it during the night. Got very well acquainted with my toilet bowl...
The head of security of AAF(animals asia) tried frantically to find someone to dance with him but was rejected by everybody. So I eventually took him by the hand and we had a bit of a dance. Absolutely the whole restaurant was clapping and chearing and our group all got up to see us dance!!! It was such a funny site.. for me, but probably also for them. A succesfull day I may say. I will go down in the books as the new bear manager that danced with the head of security!
